I cannot say enough good things about these gloves/mittens. First, I love the glove/mitten combination. I snowboard and prefer that combination for my gloves. The fact that they made this into a patrol glove is awesome. Being able to make a fist for warmth inside of an insulated mitten is great during very cold shifts.
This glove performed well and was as advertised. The convenience of having the zippers, when needed, is game changing. The zippers were very sturdy but were not difficult to use. This item was very durable. I could tell the materials were of good quality and the leather palm seemed strong and grippy. One of the things I liked the most were the buttons on the gloves. It gave me the option of snapping them to each other for storage, or snapping them to my coat if I needed to take them off. No need to sit them down!
I would recommend this item for anyone on patrol during cold shifts. I reconstructed a crash for 3 hours in the middle of the night and my hands did not get cold!

This is a well put together glove system clearly designed by someone who has worked in a cold climate. The base glove works well for temperatures around 30 degrees F. I recently been using the mitten part with the inner glove in below zero weather as cold as -17 F without the windchill. I will say there has been a couple times when my hands were the only comfortable part of my body with this system.
The way it is designed to scale up or down how much glove you are using depending on the weather is the best part. I tested running a pistol with both glove a mitten with the mitten folded and you can still run a pistol and conduct a reload. You can also run a rifle by just leaving the index finger and thumb out of the mitten. The middle finger and thumb also allow you to interact with touch screen devices, I used this feature more then I realized daily. There is also pockets for hand warmers.
I will say if you work in a climate where you patrol in below zero weather this glove system is a need. I have held perimeters and tracked suspects in negative degree weather with other glove styles and wish I had these years ago.

The Ice Warrior Tac Gear Mammoth-X V2 Tactical Mitt/Gloves are phenomenal at keeping hands warm in a cold environment, but bulky for routine patrol operations. They prove valuable for prolonged barricade situations where manipulating a long gun is possible, but I don’t feel overwhelmingly comfortable wearing them while gripping a handgun, unholstering quickly, or performing other fine motor skills. I normally wear a medium in Mechanix gloves, but found the size large Mammoth were exceptionally tight fitting. Overall they are an option, but I prefer a thinner glove (Mechanix insulated) paired with a fanny pack or dangler style handwarmer pouch if conditions allow. But that is the weather I deal with, typically 0 to 30 degrees in the winter. Those exposed to extremely cold weather and conditions for extended periods would benefit most by this product.

The Mammoth-X Tactical Mitt/ Glove is a very nicely designed glove meant for the most extreme of cold weather conditions. The quality of the materials utilized in this glove was easily apparent during this testing period. The only reason I did not rate the quality of this glove as exceeding my expectations was on my very first test of the materials, I was able to rip the seam on the thumb cover almost completely apart with little effort. Outside of this, this is a very well-made piece of equipment. Even with the large tear created, this glove performed very well in cold weather, below freezing. A common issue I experience here is weather that hovers around freezing causing mixed precipitation and cold/ wet gloves. To replicate this, I placed this glove under a sink of running water for about 15 minutes and then donned them. The Mammoth-X Tactical Mitt was not bone dry at the completion of this test, however, I do feel confident that the Mitts performed effective enough for use in the field and recognize this test may be a bit of an extreme.
As you might imagine, this glove is cumbersome, however, I did not find it to prohibit me from being able to defeat my level 3 duty holster after a few draws. Once drawing my pistol, I did not find it to be a problem to manipulate the firearm and there was plenty of room for my gloved index finger to manipulate the trigger. The same can be said for manipulating my patrol rifle. Reloads with both my rifle and my pistol were clunky as one might expect, but if factoring in when these gloves would be utilized and the need to practice with ones equipment before using in the field, I do not think these gloves will be an issue. These gloves will definitely tolerate heavy winds and I highly recommend them for use in the most extreme cold weather environments.
These gloves were stepped on, run over by my cruiser, donned and doffed with little regard for care in the materials, tested to the extreme and still manage to hold up (despite the rip on the seams of both thumb covers). The Mammoth-X V2 Glove is definitely a unique piece of kit and I do feel like it has its niche in the right environment.
